05/23/13 - Fred's Unique Furniture is proud to be able to provide furniture production assistance to nearly every major movie and TV show filmed in the Detroit area. Our stores have become regular stops for nearly all the set decorators and producers for these major undertakings. Hundreds of furniture items, lighting, accent pieces and art from our stores are presently on the sets of 2 major productions. The first is Low Winter Sun; an exciting new AMC Channel original series debuting in August. The other is the much talked about Hollywood motion picture How To Kill a Monster, directed by Ryan Gosling. We are very excited to be working closely with both of these productions. The picture above is from the set being constructed for a "bordello scene" in Low Winter Sun. Looks like a perfect setting for drama and intrigue. Click here for a sneak peek at this promising new Detroit-based drama. We're definitely looking forward to the series debut of Low Winter Sun in August and the release of How To Kill A Monster next year when we'll get a chance to see a lot of our stuff appearing in many scenes. Many of these production furniture pieces will be returning to our stores, so those of you looking for items with a unique history will have an opportunity to purchase them. Thanks especially to Kim Thrasher, Set Coordinator, Low Winter Sun and Lisa Morgan, Set Coordinator, How To Kill A Monster. Best of luck to you and your productions from Fred and all of us at Fred's Unique Furniture.
05/18/13 - For those of you that have visited our Warren Store, you know that our store is a chaotic place where customers, our workers and furniture are constantly moving into and out of our buildings. It's not the kind of place that you would ordinarily think of as a great place to meet close friends, relax and maybe have a few drinks.... But... then again.... We ARE a "Unique" place... This photo was taken on a busy Saturday afternoon when a group of girls had suddenly arrived from Toledo and asked if they could use an area of our upstairs showroom to hang out, party, shop and basically celebrate the upcoming wedding of their close friend. We quickly moved some furniture around and made sure they were comfortable. In the middle of all this, we had a fairly large group of customers browsing, some Hollywood set decorators choosing furniture for a TV show and the never-ending crazy hustle and bustle of furniture being moved into and out of the store. Somehow, everything seemed to work out well gauging from the smiles and good cheer. Fred and all of us at Fred's Unique Furniture want to pay tribute and give thanks to the adventurous spirit of these fine ladies in choosing our store to be host to an important and what turned out to be a fun-filled event. We sincerely appreciate you for letting us be a part of it. The red carpet will always be here for any of you.
04/03/13 - As many of you know, Fred's Furniture is not a typical store. Sure, you'll get amazing liquidation prices and a tremendous and eclectic variety of furniture, collectibles, accent pieces and more to choose from, but you'll have to navigate through crowded isles and the never-ending chaos that is our daily business. This photo shows just a portion of our upstairs showroom at the Warren store. When we constructed this 7,000 sq. ft. upstairs addition 2 years ago, we thought there would be enough room to handle the overflow, but we were wrong. As our business has continued to grow, more and more people are calling us to sell their used furniture and Fred continues to buy it. This Spring, major construction will begin on a brand new 24,000 sq. ft.warehouse to be built on the property just next door to our main building in Warren. This large structure will give us the opportunity to expand and spread out. We're going to put a lot of the items appearing on our website into this new building and we'll be able to display them better than we possibly can at the moment. In the meantime, if you enjoy shopping with a sense of adventure and fun, our existing building can't be beat. Stop by and see what's going on. We'll be here to help.
